Another phenomenal tour with Glen Valentine. Thanks so much!!!
This tour was outstanding. The itinerary was excellent and I wouldn't change a thing. The accommodations were very comfortable throughout. The time spent in Cape Town was a great balance of birding, sightseeing, and wine tasting. The short visit to the Karoo provided nice variety. Manyoni and Zebra Hills were an excellent location for the safari portion of the trip. I saw basically all of my key targets and more than I'd even hoped to see. The whole trip was just the right balance of activity and relaxation. I also appreciate that this kind of tour is a difficult needle to thread. In my case, I am a birder but my wife (who came on the tour with me) is not and was hesitant about the birding aspects of the trip. But this trip was pitched perfectly for a couple like us--just enough birds for the birder but just enough other things for the less bird-inclined. We'd love to take more tours like this from Rockjumper in the future and have already been perusing the "relaxed tours" section. I'd also be remiss if I didn't comment about Paul as a guide. Paul was terrific. I couldn't imagine a better guide for this tour. Friendly, funny, exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful. He never stopped working to make sure everyone was having a good time. My wife has never once enjoyed bird watching--but on this trip, she actually took bit of a liking to it in large part thanks to Paul's infectious enthusiasm. We would eagerly book another tour with him. We will also be recommending him an this tour to all of our friends. Altogether, this was an excellent trip. Fantastically planned and fantastically led. We look forward to more trips with Rockjumper in the future!
Yeray had extensive local knowledge which proved very useful and he ensured the group was on the bird before it flew. His good timekeeping and organisational skills were appreciated. Accommodation and meals were very good, and I appreciated the suggestions for warmer clothes for the next day, as the Pyrenees proved unseasonably cold. The vehicle used on the tour had good viewing and quite spacious. Altogether a great trip. I would travel with Yeray again
In addition to the main content, I'm adding additional comments mostly to emphasize the exceptional experience I had during tour, which was largely attributed to the exceptional guidance provided by our tour guide, Quinton "Paul" Josep. His unwavering enthusiasm, extensive knowledge, and the remarkable ability to cater to the needs of each participant left an indelible impression on me. These qualities collectively contributed to the overall positive impact of the tour.
Thanks Stephan for a fantastic tour. The stay at the Monastery was especially memorable.
