Since its formation, Rockjumper Birding Tours has been supporting the conservation of the birds that bring us many delightful hours of sheer bird watching pleasure.
Learn MoreI liked the fact that we didn't have to fly inside the country. This allowed us to see more of the countryside.
Bobby Wilcox was great - very communicative and great at finding birds and getting people onto them. Our local guide, Diego, was super at lining up local experts and coping with the many flight changes in Aerolineas Argentina. The scenery was spectacular, and the special birds were super.
Paul and I would like to say how very much we enjoyed the tour. Glen and Francis worked wonderfully well together and very very hard to get us on all the birds. We loved the completely unexpected rustic luxury of the Zaina lodge in Mole…everything worked…hot water…toilets, sinks. With two fans in the room and screened windows we were able to keep the air con usage down as it also worked! Glen had to work to keep me on track to look for birds as I was so head over heels and very distracted by walking amongst the elephants! Our ranger, Magit? was wonderful and so kindly indulged my elephant gawking. Although I am not a fan of “selfies” I have about a dozen photos taken by others of me and my ellies. What a magical memory! We would highly recommend the Ibis Styles Hotel as a first night as well a pre and post tour hotel. Tour group leaders should be ready to warn folks to not expect that kind of accommodation for the rest of the tour. Rockjumper rocks it again!
This was a good tour. David was excellent as usual, and showed infinite patience.
Wade is an excellent guide. He is exceptional at bird and game identifications. Rarely, if there was something he was unsure about (like an unusual frog or lizzard), he reached out to contacts to get a positive ID. He can spot birds and animals like no one else I've met. In addition to being good at these things, he has the people skills to be an excellent guide too. He is good-natured, patient, and has obvious enthusiasm for his work. I highly recommend Wade as a guide and I'd gladly tour with him again.
While the birding may have been challenging at times and given the hot, humid jungle conditions, it was a fabulous way to find so many unique and often endemic birds. Our guides -Glen Valentine and Dusan Brinkhuizen were incredibly capable in finding and showing us the birds and made this trip a very enjoyable experience. We were well taken care of aboard the ship and what a great way to visit these special islands. We would highly recommend this trip. Sharon and Rick
