Since its formation, Rockjumper Birding Tours has been supporting the conservation of the birds that bring us many delightful hours of sheer bird watching pleasure.
Learn MoreOur group leaders/guides worked hard all the time to ensure that the tour went smoothly and timely because instructions were clearly conveyed. There were incredible sightings and rare finds. The accomodation and meals were good but I have to commend our stay onboard the Dorinha, an excellent experience. I felt well looked after and enjoyed my first tour with Rockjumper immensely, thanks especially to Bradley Davis, Dusàn and driver Marinaldo.
This tour was outstanding. The itinerary was excellent and I wouldn't change a thing. The accommodations were very comfortable throughout. The time spent in Cape Town was a great balance of birding, sightseeing, and wine tasting. The short visit to the Karoo provided nice variety. Manyoni and Zebra Hills were an excellent location for the safari portion of the trip. I saw basically all of my key targets and more than I'd even hoped to see. The whole trip was just the right balance of activity and relaxation. I also appreciate that this kind of tour is a difficult needle to thread. In my case, I am a birder but my wife (who came on the tour with me) is not and was hesitant about the birding aspects of the trip. But this trip was pitched perfectly for a couple like us--just enough birds for the birder but just enough other things for the less bird-inclined. We'd love to take more tours like this from Rockjumper in the future and have already been perusing the "relaxed tours" section. I'd also be remiss if I didn't comment about Paul as a guide. Paul was terrific. I couldn't imagine a better guide for this tour. Friendly, funny, exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful. He never stopped working to make sure everyone was having a good time. My wife has never once enjoyed bird watching--but on this trip, she actually took bit of a liking to it in large part thanks to Paul's infectious enthusiasm. We would eagerly book another tour with him. We will also be recommending him an this tour to all of our friends. Altogether, this was an excellent trip. Fantastically planned and fantastically led. We look forward to more trips with Rockjumper in the future!
A guide with a wealth of knowledge on ornithological topics, an excellent ear for bird calls, an expert at identifying species, and a thorough understanding of where to find particular species. I am very pleased with the trip you organised.
An excellent tour! Paul Josop lived up to our expectations for a Rockjumper guide - excellent knowledge of the birds; conscientious about getting everyone on the birds; on top of all the arrangements for meals, lodging and transportation; worked well with the local guide; and shared his excitement and good humor throughout the trip. The WhatsApp group that he set up was brilliant. He shared photos with us, as did other participants, and it was an easy way for us all to keep in touch. We would love to travel with Paul again. Our local guide, Ashoka, was outstanding also. Thank you to all.
Glen ran an excellent tour for northern India and the Assam extension. He knows his birds and keeps guests informed about sightings as well as distinguishing bird features. His calming influence during times of stress helps the support staff and guests. We loved his enthusiasm and energy.
Erik is a very knowledgeable birder and guide who made sure everyone was able to see the bird he discovered for the group. I was impressed with the number of endemics he was able to find for us. I will remember the trip to New Zealand for a long time.
